About
Emily Ferguson, MSN, FNP-BC
Founder and Co-Owner of Nuance Aesthetics and Wellness
I’m a Family Nurse Practitioner, wife, mother of four, and a firm believer in living life to the fullest—whether that’s through movement, adventure, travel, or simply sharing good food and meaningful traditions with those you love most.
I grew up in South Carolina, where little exercise and fried foods were the everyday norm. Though I don’t have pictures to prove it, I’m pretty sure I learned how to drink from a straw out of a Diet Coke can that my sweet grandmother was willing to share. You don’t have to tell me how hard old habits are to break—I know all too well!
Choosing a career in nursing was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. After earning my BSN, I worked as an oncology nurse at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where I gained a deep understanding of health and life on a cellular level. While I saw the limitations of the traditional healthcare system, where profit often takes precedence over true healing, I felt my work had purpose.
After completing my graduate studies and becoming a provider, for years I found myself helping patients manage chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, and fatigue—issues that stem from cellular dysfunction and are often preventable with small, intentional changes in daily life. While managing these conditions with medications has become the norm, I believe that preventing or even reversing them is the key.
That’s why I’m passionate about helping people take control of their health, feel their best, and build a life they love—one that is vibrant, fulfilling, and full of joy for years to come.

CO-OWNER OF NUANCE AESTHICS AND WELLNESS
I am an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, wife, mom of two boys (and three big dogs), and lover of all thing’s sports, nature, food, and travel. I am an avid believer in the motto “you only live once”, so make it the best life possible-- full of intention and purpose shared with those you love.
Though my upbringing had its complexities (don’t most?), South Carolina became home around age 12 and has shaped much of who I am today. After losing my mom to cancer, I felt called to healthcare and earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina in 2010. I spent the next eight years working as a critical care nurse in Level 1 trauma centers, where I gained invaluable experience in high-acuity, academic hospital settings. Wanting to expand my impact, I went on to earn my Doctorate of Nursing Practice from USC in 2018, specializing in Adult Gerontology Acute Care.
As a nurse practitioner, I’ve worked as a provider inpatient with vascular surgery and outpatient at an integrative medicine practice focused on acute and chronic injury. In both roles, I cared for patients whose chronic conditions often led to physical limitations, emotional and financial strain, and a diminished quality of life—not only for themselves, but also for those who love and support them.
Along the way, through both personal and professional experiences, I have learned just how crucial prevention and root-cause healing really are—not just for survival, but for living a full and joyful life. That’s what drew me to functional medicine: helping myself and others rediscover energy, vitality, and the freedom to live life on their own terms.
